CLA (Country Land & Business Association)

The CLA (Country Land and Business Association) is the membership organisation for landowners, farmers and other rural businesses. It has over 33,000 members, who together own around half of the rural land in England and Wales.

Working with the CLA’s public affairs and communications team, Fluid Design Studio designs a range of collateral to engage stakeholders in policy issues and campaigns affecting the UK’s rural economy.

Much of our work has been focused on campaign branding, communications and policy reports. These have included topics such as investment in rural businesses, improving 4G mobile coverage in the countryside and shaping the UK government’s farming and rural policy after Brexit.

Campaign win!

The CLA’s Countryside Matters campaign needed a visual identity ahead of the 2017 UK general election to promote the importance of rural communities and businesses to the UK economy.

As part of this over-arching policy, the 4G for All campaign brand was designed to support the CLA in urging Ofcom and the UK Government, to force reluctant mobile network operators to improve coverage in rural areas by imposing a legally binding 95% 4G geographic coverage target.

The government announced in October 2019 a deal had been agreed with the UK’s four largest mobile network operators to invest £1bn, to tackle ‘no-spots’ in rural areas that affect businesses.

A fantastic result for the campaign and rural communities across the UK.
